Lone Star College Leadership High School is Open to Royal Brook's Districts

It’s never too early for Royal Brook’s Sophomores and Juniors to walk onto a college campus! Lone Star College has started their Leadership High School program for select school districts in the Houston area, and both of Kingwood-Royal Brook’s districts are included. New Caney ISD and Humble ISD Sophomores and Juniors are now eligible to sign up for this program at Lone Star College Montgomery or Lone Star College North West depending on the school district they are zoned to.

This program is designed to help create community awareness and develop leadership skills in the high school students who enroll. Lone Star College Leadership High School is accepting applications online now until Friday, September 20, 2019. The sessions are free and will be held at Lone Star College campuses. For students’ convenience, transportation to and from the college will be provided, as well. Students enrolled in this program will have the opportunity to “learn leadership skills, servant leadership, community awareness, and engage in dialogue about issues facing out community.”

As students advance in their high school career, leadership skills will prove to be very valuable in their success. This skill will teach students confidence and team work that they can use and carry on into college and their careers. Being around mentors and professors on a college campus will be extremely encouraging to high schoolers, too. Students will have the chance to speak one on one with those who will have been in their shoes not too long ago. This chance will establish trust and let students know that they have someone they can talk to about any problems or difficulties they may be facing in their high school. The Lone Star College Leadership High School Program is an incredible way for students to build each other up and get more involved with their community.
